US Surgeon General Releases Youth E-Cig Report
The first lines of the December 2016 report by the U.S. Surgeon General, “E-Cigarette Use Among Youth and Young Adults,” is decisive and succinct.
“Tobacco use among youth and young adults in any form, including e-cigarettes, is not safe. In recent years, e-cigarette use by youth and young adults has increased at an alarming rate. E-cigarettes are now the most commonly used tobacco product among youth in the United States.”
Policy and education about the harmful effects of e-cigarettes, especially among youth, young adults, pregnant women and their fetuses, is essential to reducing the negative public health impacts of this diverse product class. Read the full text of the report here.
